The creases that restrict self-expression within the patriarchal system are difficult to iron out. To expose one's own patterns of folding and learn to challenge the status quo, anger is needed as the driving force of resistance.
Johanna Marie Meyer (born in Munich in 1995) studied illustration and graphic storytelling in Hamburg and Paris. Her work ranges from freehand drawing to narrative formats, in which she typically combines the personal with the universal: her focus is on themes such as gender-specific socialization within patriarchy, heteronormativity, grief and loss, anger, and resistance.
