In Schläfrige Schlangen, Yara Jakobs processes the ambivalent journey through the beginnings of her motherhood: the large paintings in ink and acrylic oscillate between sombre and humorous, and show the challenges and inner conflicts that motherhood and artistic practice entail. In doing so, she deliberately breaks with the clichés that are often associated with this period of transformation
In a juxtaposition of brutality and gentleness, the protagonist is constantly searching for answers to her questions, which range from her grandmother's life to the present day.
