This is how Jungyoon Kwon's captivating and dense story begins. Two mysterious lights lead the girl from the forest to the circus, a place full of roughness and relentlessness. The circus does not tolerate individuality. The circus decides who is a spectator and who is in the ring. The circus devours blindly. And the big snake circles around everything.

Jungyoon Kwon tells the story almost wordlessly in atmospheric black and white images. The story is enigmatic, oppressive and touching at the same time. The ambivalence that runs through the story is reflected in the characters. The girls appear cute and creepy at the same time.

Als Technik wählte Jungyoon Kwon die Ätz- und Kaltnadelradierung - eine aufwendige Technik, bei der eine Kupferplatte zuerst poliert und diese dann im Wechsel mit einer Radiernadel geritzt und mit Säure geätzt wird. Die Umsetzung erfordert eine präzise Konzeption und Sorgfalt. Nach Bearbeitung der Kupferplatte erfolgte der eigentliche Druck, auf den die Künstlerin abschließend zeichnete. So entstanden Schicht um Schicht die gewaltigen Bildwelten und schufen die dichte Atmosphäre, welche die besondere ästhetische Qualität dieses Buches auszeichnet.
